Holy box office! Bible-based movies flood theaters
Thu Feb 27, 2014
In reply to: Nancy Wilkins #7.2 Insurance is always a smart thing to have.
Bible in bus driver's pocket stops two bullets, saves his life
Tue Feb 25, 2014
The "some kind of intervention" was simply the presence of a physical impediment--i.e. "luck." To believe that God whimsically suspends physics as a magic trick to wow the human audience or, worse yet, to believe that God manipulates humans for entertainment in a sort-of co …
Biden: I'm undecided, but 'in my heart, I'm confident' I'd be a good president
Wed Jan 29, 2014
In his heart, he should run. But nowhere else.
Hanks for nothing! 'Captain Phillips' star among Oscar's top snubs
Thu Jan 16, 2014
In reply to: Matthew Farmer #12 I agree that Hanks is a very likeable actor who has chosen some fine roles, but I disagree that he is among the top 3 (or even the top 10) actors of our lifetime.
Daughter of 'Gilligan's Island's' Ginger: Make Professor gay in reboot
Thu Dec 19, 2013
Gilligan and the Skipper were sailors together for a long time. 'Nuff said. If the multicultural box needs to be checked, then the Professor has to be Asian.
'Speed and speed alone' behind deadly Paul Walker crash, source tells AP
Thu Dec 19, 2013
Weird thing is that all the initial news reports I saw said the car was traveling 40-45 mph. If "speed alone" is a factor, that car must have been doing 45 mph one-eighties or something.
'Gilligan's Island' to set sail again ... as a movie
Wed Dec 18, 2013
Most of the humor of the original series was derived from stereotypes that are no longer permitted in polite PC society: like the voluptuous airheaded blonde, the loveable fat guy, the dim-witted skinny guy, the egghead who knows everything except what's going on, and the rich guy with no empat …
Shockers and snubs from Golden Globes movie noms: 'The Butler,' 'Mr. Banks' bomb
Thu Dec 12, 2013
The word "snub" is really overused during the awards season. Just because an expected nominee isn't nominated, doesn't necessarily mean (s)he was snubbed. A snub is a deliberate or spiteful rebuff. In the case of most of these performers, they are not being snubbed at all, they …
'No. No. No': Stars mourn actor Paul Walker
Sun Dec 1, 2013
In reply to: scales67 #3.3 While I understand your moral outrage, there should be no surprise that the death of a famous person is more widely covered than the death of anyone else, no matter how noble their profession or private lives. That is pretty much the definition of "fame."
Sarah Palin on Christie, GOP: 'No Ronald Reagan on the scene today'
Mon Nov 11, 2013
I lived through the era of Ronald Reagan, and I remember it well. The idealized memory of Ronald Reagan that has emerged during the past couple of decades--which now seems to somehow be tacitly making the transition from sentimental fiction to accepted revisionist history--bears almos …
